Providence Community Health Centers employs a highly-skilled, compassionate, and culturally diverse workforce of board-certified pediatricians, internists, family practitioners, nurses, nurse practitioners, and certified nurse midwives.

Dr. Beth Toolan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and her Medical Degree from Brown University. She completed her internal medicine and pediatric residency at Rhode Island Hospital. Dr. Toolan joined PCHC in 1999 and is dedicated to serving PCHC’s diverse population as well as promoting literacy and school readiness to her pediatric patients. Dr. Toolan speaks Spanish. As a former restaurant owner and wife of a chef, Beth enjoys fine dining. She also enjoys spending time with her two teenage children, reading and jogging (when she finds time!).

Kristin Malone received her Bachelor degree in Human Development and Child Life from Wheelock College, and both her Bachelor and Master degrees in Nursing from Regis College. Kristin completed her preceptorship with PCHC and then joined PCHC in 2016. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Kristin was a Child-Life Specialist at The Floating Hospital for Children in Boston and an Emergency Medical Technician. When not working, Kristin enjoys the outdoors–hiking, camping and walking her puggle, Sammy.

Dr. Joe Singer earned his Bachelor degree in Chemistry from Brandeis University; Doctor of Medicine from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey; and completed his Pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Prior to joining PCHC in 2019, Dr. Singer’s pediatric practice was in East Providence for more than twenty years. Dr. Singer is also an associate physician with the Tavares Pediatric and Education Center in Providence, and he was a clinical faculty member with Brown University Warren Alpert Medical School for several years. While he grew up in New Jersey, and spent some years in California, Dr. Singer, along with his wife and son, have called Rhode Island their home since 1996. In his free time, Dr. Singer enjoys woodworking, music, and other creative activities.

Dr. Jon Dooley, MD is a board-certified pediatrician with Providence Community Health Centers.
Dr. Dooley was born and raised in Rhode Island. He graduated magna cum laude from Providence College and the University of Pennsylvania and obtained his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. Dr. Dooley completed his pediatrics residency in New York City, where he also provided emergency care for adult patients at the start of the COVID pandemic. Before joining the team at PCHC, he served as the head of pediatrics at another community health center.
Dr. Dooley has lived in four countries and has learned from a diverse range of cultures taking care of patients in each. In his free time, he can be found exploring the latest foodie hotspots with his wife or relaxing at home with his dogs and pet chickens.

Dr. Ursulina Bencosme earned her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from St. Joseph’s College; her Doctor of Medicine from Cornell University Medical College; and her Master of Public Health from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. Dr. Bencosme completed her Pediatric residency with Brown University at Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence. Dr. Bencosme worked as a Pediatrician and Assistant Medical Director of Children’s Aid in New York implementing programs and trainings in foster care health. She returned to Providence in 2019 to join PCHC. In her free time, Dr. Bencosme enjoys traveling, cooking and spending time with her husband, son and daughter. Dr. Bencosme is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Dr. Boris Skurkovich received his medical degree from the Moscow State Medical Institute, completed his residency at Georgetown University in Washington, DC and his Fellowship at Boston City Hospital and Boston University. Dr. Skurkovich is board certified in Pediatrics and specializes in Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Dr. Skurkovich is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University, and he is the Director of the International Adoption Clinic at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. He joined PCHC in 1988 and speaks fluent Russian and some Sign Language. Dr. Skurkovich has two boys and enjoys music, reading and soccer.

Dr. Bridget Wieczkowski is a pediatrician with the Providence Community Health Centers. After receiving her MD from New York Medical College, Dr. Wieczkowski completed two years as an Academic General Pediatrics Fellow at New York University School of Medicine. Prior to that, she completed an Internship and Residency in Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Lebanon in New Hampshire, where she was Chief Resident in Pediatrics in her final year. She has been involved in projects related to medical education and social determinants of health. Dr. Wieczkowski speaks some Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband in search of good food, music, and baseball games.

Courtney Dowen is a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who joined Providence Community Health Centers in 2022. Courtney received her Master of Science in Nursing from Northeastern University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Rhode Island. She is experienced in working as a nurse in acute care hospital settings. Prior to joining PCHC, she worked as a pediatric nurse practitioner at a community health center and school-based health center in Connecticut before moving back to Rhode Island where she was born and raised. When she’s not working, Courtney enjoys spending time with her family.
Courtney Dowen es una enfermera pediátrica certificada quien se unió a Providence Community Health Centers en el año 2022. Dr. Leslia Gonzalez is a Pediatrician with Providence Community Health Centers. She received her medical degree from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where she completed a Pediatric Residency at Hasbro Children’ Hospital and was named Intern of the Year for the PGY-1 class of 2019.
Dr. Gonzalez received a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Brown University. She has served as a mentor to medical students who identify as underrepresented in medicine. Dr. Gonzalez has volunteered in a program to improve Spanish communication skills for medical residents and has worked to improve access to healthy foods for families and exercise for children.
In her free time, Dr. Gonzalez enjoys fitness, nutrition, sports, reading, drawing, music, cooking, and movies and television.
La Dra. Leslia González es pediatra de Providence Community Health Centers. Recibió su título de médico de la Facultad de Medicina Warren Alpert de la Universidad de Brown, donde completó una residencia en pediatría en Hasbro Children's Hospital y fue nombrada como la Practicante del Año para la clase PGY-1 (primer año de postgtado) de 2019.
La Dra. González recibió una Licenciatura en Ciencias en Neurociencia de la Universidad de Brown. Se ha desempeñado como mentora de estudiantes de medicina que se identifican como subrepresentados en la medicina. La Dra. González se ha ofrecido como voluntaria en un programa para mejorar las habilidades de comunicación en español para los residentes médicos y ha trabajado para mejorar el acceso a alimentos saludables para las familias y el ejercicio para los niños.
En su tiempo libre, la Dra. González disfruta del acondicionamiento físico, la nutrición, los deportes, la lectura, el dibujo, la música, la cocina, el cine y la televisión.
